of applications for Departmental Scholarship
Tech/Non-tech/ITI for the wards of the
BSNL Employees
for the year 2014-2015 (Based on 2013-2014
marks ) - reg
Applications
are invited from the BSNL employees covered by GM. BSNL, Thanjavur Welfare
Board for grant of Departmental Technical /Non-Technical scholarship for the Technical
and Non-Technical education of their wards for the year 2014-2015 based on 2013-2014
marks.
In
respect of Technical Scholarship leading to Degree in Engineering/Medical/
Professional courses in all Government recognized colleges/institutions there
is no basic pay limitation.
In
case of Non-Technical scholarship leading to Degree courses in Science, Arts
and commerce and other Non- Technical Scholarship leading to Diploma in
Engineering/medical/ITI courses, the basic pay should not exceed Rs.38,630/- per month
in the pre-revised scale of pay as on 1.7.2014.
However,
where both husband and wife are employed in BSNL, the pay of official who is
getting higher pay will be taken into account to decide the admissibility of
scholarship to the ward. In case where only one of them is working in BSNL and
the other person (either husband or wife) is working any other Central/ State/
Bank/ private firms etc, the same of basic pay of both husband and wife will be
taken into account for considering scholarship.
At a time,
scholarship would be admissible to a maximum of two children of BSNL employee.
In case, more than two children are studying, the official has the option to
indicate the two children for whom the scholarship is to be sanctioned.
However,
the spouse of BSNL employee would be eligible for scholarship for pursuing
Technical/Non Technical studies provided that he/she wholly dependent on the
BSNL employees and has no other source of
income.
In
technical/professional/non-technical courses where the criteria for awarding
scholarship is percentage of marks obtained in 10+2, the minimum
marks for being eligible for scholarship will be 75%. The % of marks
will not be applicable in such Technical/Professional course (e.g B.E, B.Tech,
MBBS ete) where admission has been secured through entrance examination.
For the
student studying in MBBS/BDS/BVSc/BAMS/BHMS the scholarship for 2nd
and subsequent years will be renewed only if he/She has secured 55% marks
in the I st previous year of the course, such student must have got admission
in the I st year of the course against “free seat”.
For the
students studying in all other Technical/ non Technical course other than
MBBS/BDS/BVSc/BHMS, the scholarship for 2nd and subsequent years
will be renewed only if he/she has secured 65% marks in the 1st
previous year of the course such student must have got admission in the 1st
year of the course against “free seat”
But students securing
admission to Technical of professional courses by payment of capitation fees
are not entitled for scholarship. Students belongs to SC/ST/OBC/ Physically
Handicapped category will however eligible for 10% relaxation of the marks.
Application
are also invited from those officials whose wards are studying through
correspondence courses. Rates of Scholarship for Technical/ Non Technical are
furnished below.
(1) Technical
degree in Engineering/medical/Professional

(3) Non Technical

Applications
along with courses certificate and Appendix “A” duly filled in the first
instance be submitted to their
Heads of Units not
later than 15.09.2014.
Completed
applications after necessary verification along with course certificate and
appendix “A” should be forwarded to this office on or before 22.09.2014.
Application
should be thoroughly checked and should be forwarded to this office enclosing
necessary certificates to this office to avoid necessary correspondence.
Belated
& incomplete applications will be rejected. Wide publicity may be given for
this circular among all the staff under your control including those who are on
leave.
